When the world is on fire, where do we gather?
The Village is my answer to that question- a virtual matriarchal book club for those who can’t gather in person.
We meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 12 pm EDT.
Welcome to the Village
When we were living abroad, I felt a bit insulated from the chaos of the world, especially once we moved down to Buenos Aires. There was a certain safety to that distance but also a disconnection. I had a small group of friends in each place we lived but nothing that approached what I truly desired- a village. Now that we have settled back in the US (we are in South Orange, NJ- about 15 miles away from our forever home in NYC) I’m making friends and creating community IRL.
However, having a kiddo at home 24/7 with chronic disease and special needs means my days are wildly unpredictable. In-person events are not always feasible for me and last minute changes are frequently on the menu.
Perhaps you too are caretaking chronic health issues in yourself or your family. Maybe you feel more comfortable online. I know that many of us crave friendship and a place to share our fears and our hopes- in community.
I’d love for you to join us in The Village- a book club that meets twice a month (2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 12 pm EDT) for deep discussion, community, and building matriarchy.
Our first book is “The Great Cosmic Mother,” a truly powerful book to guide our time together.
Please note that I stand for human rights for all- including immigrants, LBGTQ+, people of color, and especially those currently experiencing the devastation of genocide. This is a scary juncture but also a powerful, liminal time in our history.
